Rest assured, the NBA is busy getting to the bottom of the L.A. Clippers’ potential cap circumvention scandal with Kawhi Leonard. It’s just … not moving all that fast with its process. As Pablo Torre continues pulling receipts on the Clippers, owner Steve Ballmer, and everyone in between, the Clippers’ guilt looks more and more apparent. At the very least, it’s getting increasingly more difficult to deny all the connections we’ve been seeing.
But if the NBA is eventually going to punish the Clippers, Ballmer, and or Leonard, it’s still in no major rush to do so. In fact, according to Jake Fischer, there reportedly won’t be a resolution on the league’s investigation into the Clippers until after the 2026 NBA All-Star Game. Hmm, that timeline both feels oddly specific and like it’s weirdly long, no?
Well, you see, the thing is that the Clippers are set to host the 2026 All-Star Game at the Intuit Dome. Ah, how convenient that no one involved with the Clippers will face any punishment, if any at all, until after they’re done hosting the league’s marquee midseason event:
I swear, sometimes it’s like the NBA actually wants the Clippers to look more guilty when we hear reports like this. This investigation now feels like it’s virtually guaranteed to cast a shadow over the Clippers’ season.
We’ll see what happens here in the coming days and weeks.
