Jimmy Butler Reportedly Questions the Warriors’ Front Office

The Golden State Warriors made a splash at the 2024-25 NBA trade deadline, acquiring six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat to build a new-look big three of him alongside Steph Curry and Draymond Green.

The Warriors’ experiment was working to a T, as Curry and Butler seemed unstoppable together, and were potentially en route to a Western Conference Finals appearance before the future Hall of Fame point guard got hurt in the second round of the playoffs.

Still, Butler’s future in Golden State for the next two years seems to be bright, but the Warriors need to capitalize on their aging stars.

As the Warriors continue to deal with their situation with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, there is a growing concern about what direction they are heading. Of course, Kuminga’s future in Golden State is as uncertain as ever, but his teammates are trying to look out for him.

ESPN’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater recently reported that “Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green have reached out, checking on Kuminga, his plans and his mindset.”

Of course, it makes sense for two of the team’s veterans to reach out to Kuminga, not only because they care about him and his future, but because the Warriors need to figure out this situation. However, Butler’s calls did not stop there.

A report from Warriors insider Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area reveals that Butler has reached out to the team’s front office to ask what is going on.

“In that ESPN article, they mentioned that Draymond and Jimmy have checked in and reached out to Jonathan Kuminga,” Johnson said. “I can confidently say that Jimmy Butler has also reached out to the team and been like, ‘What’s going on here? I just wanted to know the plan.’ ”

Of course, it is a crazy offseason for the Warriors that has been actionless, so there is a reason for Butler and the other stars to be concerned. However, fans should try not to dig too deep into this report.

Even if Butler were concerned with the direction of the franchise, it is known that the team has several free agents lined up, ready to sign, as soon as they figure out what to do with Kuminga. By the start of the regular season, the Warriors will take shape, and any of Butler’s concerns will likely melt away.
